•     I just wanted to take the time to let you know that your school has made such a difference in my daughters school work. Now she really likes going to school.  Before, I used to have to argue with her to get up and get ready for school now she likes going. She went from getting 1's which is considered needs improvement and 2's which is progressing to getting A's and B's. I was tired of fighting with the school's telling them that my daughter needs more help year after year, she would come home so angry and upset because she didn't understand her work I would try to help her the best that I could but sometimes I was not sure what to do, so I would sent a note to the teacher only to get a reply that she had already gone over it and did not have time to go over it again, so my daughter would get incomplete's on a lot of her work. So when I found out about Back 2 Basic's academy, I went to check it out and got my daughter enrolled right away. Mrs. Valencia had made such a difference. She really takes the time to help her students to make sure that they understand their work and does not make them go on to the next subject until they understand what they are doing. I know that if my daughter ever brings home any homework that she cant remember how to do and I cant help, that Mrs. Valencia will not get upset with her for not getting it done and will take the time to go over it with her. My daughter is actually excited to tell me about all the things that she is doing or going to do in school, she tells me about every thing she is working on like when she started division and times tables and how excited she was about it. I just cant say enough about how great this school is and how much of a difference it has made for my daughter she actually really loves going to school now.

•     My child spent two years in Valencia County Public Schools.  That's all it took for me to realize that I needed to find something more for my child.  I found that even with helping in his first grade classroom once a week didn't make a dent with all the challenges that needed tackeling.  I found my child getting farther behind in his academics as well as playing alone at recess.  Halfway through the school year it became apparent that his insecurities from his social life were affecting his academic performance.  Also at the time, he was struggling with reading and speech due to chronic ear infections.  Everyday of school was becoming a battle just to get him into the classroom.  His anxiety grew so great that he'd cry all the way to school and after a school staff member would have to escort him to class.  My child was asking what the purpose of school was. To him he only saw school as a place that piled on loads of paperwork that he'd get lost under and a place that brought out his insecurities and loneliness.  After searching for alternative forms of education in Valencia County, I was giving up hope of ever finding a place for my child in the Valencia County area until I came across the website for Back To The Basics Learning Academy.  I was immediately encouraged by just what I read.  But the biggest relief and breath of fresh air came when I met with Mrs. Valencia.  She was motivated, knowledgeable, kind, tuned in, and experienced!  In short, she was on a mission!  This school is a great alternative to what the Valencia county schools had to offer.  I felt an immediate sincerity and commitment to my child from Mrs. Valencia.  Since his first day of school, she has shown a real interest for the first time and he feels like he's part of the classroom.  Mrs. Valencia promotes an environment of acceptance, kindness and accountability which the children understand clearly.  My child now takes pride in his understanding and completion of his work.  He has "found" himself in the classroom.  Mrs. Valencia gives her all to make the program the best it can be for each and every child. 

               I will do any and all that I can to support this school which couldn't come at a better time for

           my family.
