FAQ

When designing our curriculum, B2BLA looked at all the skill and knowledge sets needed to excel in today's highly competitive society and came up with ABeka, and Saxon curriculum sets. We will also integrate a rich and deep understanding of Science and American history through various projects and exercises.  As described below, along with incorporating a ton of critical thinking, high standards & discipline, a commitment to excellence, and independent challenging lessons, we feel that this is a fantastic combination to achieve our goal, which is to give your child a superior education.  B2BLA's primary emphasis is going to be reading.  We are going to be a reading "boot camp" if you will.  Our philosophy is if your child can read well, then your child can learn anything that confronts them in life.

For mathematics, B2BLA will use the Saxon math series.  This is a series designed for home school children.  We feel that it addresses all of the things that the children need and the cut out the superfluous items (unneeded pictures/ illustrations) that we feel are not necessary for maximum learning. Saxon math will be used for K-8th grade.  We will use the text books as long and they are helping the students exceed standards and benchmarks for current grade level.  We will be also pulling work from other tried and true sources so that we make sure each concept is picked up.  If your child learns faster than others then he will be pushed along at his pace.  We will not hold your child back!  Additionally, if your child is struggling with certain areas of any part of the curriculum, B2BLA will find other methods to explain and teach so that your child understands the concepts, and does not slip through the cracks and fall behind.

For Language Arts B2BLA will be using the ABeka curriculum and is also designed for home school kids.  We will use the Language Arts, Science and Social Studies modules.  We will  incorporate the reading A-Z curriculum which is a long-standing, popular web-site curriculum and is leveled so that your child will get a tailored reading program according to their reading levels\needs.  When the students have shown confidence and have reached close to the end of the reading A-Z then they will be reading from various selected classic books.  In addition to the A-Z module, we will be integrating a collection of well written children's literature, ranging from the classics to contemporary literature, from many sources that are at or slightly above the child's reading level.  In addition, we will select various books and have your child choose which one they would like to read. The key here is to KEEP THEM READING.   This gives them ownership over their learning as they begin to experience the love of reading.  You'll notice they will begin to read unprompted.  When we are done with the text books, they are yours to keep if you wish.  You may do with them as you please.  Tidal wave books buys books back for a fraction of the original price so you can sell them back to the book store.
